Romelu Lukaku’s time with Chelsea has ended, after news today that he had signed for and completed a permanent move to Everton who paid a club record signing fee of £28m, that for Lukaku
means about 70,000 a week.

Well in his time with with the Blues, the last year was spent on loan to Goodison Park, looking back Lukaku joined us in August 2011 coming from Anderlecht and instantly made an impression during his first game as a sub with a 3-1 win at home over Norwich City. Its obviously been a difficult time for the player with a season loan to West Bromwich Albion in 2012, but again on a season long he made an great impression when he was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award and voted club’s Player of the Year, that’s no mean feat in any club, so well done there.

In the end Lukaku made 15 appearances for the club and Chelsea FC had this to say on the official Chelsea FC site

We thank him for his service and wish him the best of luck for the future.

Regarding, his departure from the Blues Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said

He wanted to play for Chelsea but wanted to be the first-choice striker. That’s very difficult to promise.

Everton made an important offer and Financial Fair Play is something that is always behind the thoughts of the board. This leaves Chelsea in a great position.”
